"The Bassinger House"

Shop name: Marie Stadler

Built during the 1840s, it was purchased by prominent New York physician, Samuel Bassinger in 1892. Since there was no church in town, the house often served as a place of worship and was eventually willed to be maintained as a home for retired clergy. Once located on South Street next to St. Luke's Church, it was demolished in 1935.

Distinctive Architectural Feature: Finials and pendants at gable ends with elaborate rare boards.
