Thompson-Gallo House

Shop names: Art Craft House, Historic MHS Office, My Irish Cottage

This is the only original building in Murray Hill Square. It was built in 1904 for Maria and Antonio Gallo who ran a combination grocery store and luncheonette on the first floor until 1942. Tony loaded his horse and wagon with vegetables and sold them in Newark, selling the extras in his store. William Thompson later purchased the house but never lived there, and his widow sold it to Nat Conti in 1973.
